On August 12, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Mr. Chan Aye,the new Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Ambassador Jia Guide stated that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 76 years ago, China and Myanmar have firmly adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence jointly advocated by the two countries, setting a fine example of friendly exchanges between nations. At present, China-Myanmar relations enter a new era of building a community with a shared future. Not long ago, the two presidents held a successful meeting, bringing bilateral relations to a new stage. China is ready to work with Myanmar on the Geneva Platform to implement the common understandings reached by the two presidents, strengthen communication and coordination, and jointly contribute to the improvement of global governance.
Mr. Chan Aye said that Myanmar and China are “pauk-phaw” brothers and friendly neighbors. Myanmar firmly abides by the one-China principle, adheres to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and fully supports the four Global Initiatives proposed by China. Myanmar is ready to work with China to strengthen communication and coordination, and jointly uphold multilateralism on the Geneva Platform.
