2026 World Triathlon Championship Series Weihai Brings Together 151 Athletes from 37 Countries and Regions

The event featured three Olympic medalists, with Switzerland’s Max Studer and France’s Cassandre Beaugrand claiming the elite titles.

WEIHAI, SHANDONG, CHINA, August 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On August 29, the “Good Luck Corner Cup” 2026 World Triathlon Championship Series Weihai got underway at Zhihai Harbor Bay in Weihai.

The event was organized by World Triathlon, the China Triathlon Sports Association, the Shandong Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Weihai Major Sports Events Organizing Committee. It is an Olympic qualification points event and an international Class A competition. The race featured Elite Men and Elite Women categories, with 151 athletes from 37 countries and regions taking part, including three Olympic medalists.

At the sound of the starting horn, the race officially began as athletes plunged into the water and pushed toward the finish line. Competitors were required to complete a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer cycling leg and a 10-kilometer run, covering a total distance of 51.5 kilometers. After an intense contest, Swiss athlete Max Studer claimed the Elite Men title, while France’s Cassandre Beaugrand won the Elite Women race.

On August 30, the “Dayin Cup” 2026 China · Weihai X-traithlon Series and the “She Tri” Pink X-traithlon Challenge were held. Rated as an A+ event by the China Triathlon Sports Association, the competition featured X-traithlon, Extreme Triathlon Relay (X-Relay), Extreme Triathlon Sprint (X-Sprint), Extreme Fun Triathlon (X-Fun), and X-traithlon Aquathlon, comprising four race distances, five competition categories and 34 age groups.

For the first time, the women’s X-traithlon event was linked with the signature “She Tri” Pink X-traithlon Challenge. The event attracted 939 athletes from 13 countries and regions.

Weihai was the first city in Asia to host a long-distance triathlon world championship and is the only city in China to have hosted both long-distance and standard-distance world championships. Its course has been described by World Triathlon as “the world’s most scenic course” and has received multiple national honors for high-quality sporting events.
