On September 23, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Ambassador Mario Zamora, Permanent Representative of Costa Rica.

Ambassador Jia noted that, since the establishment of diplomatic relations 19 years ago, China-Costa Rica relations have maintained sound and steady development, and practical cooperation has borne rich fruits. China has always viewed and developed its relations with Costa Rica from a strategic and long-term perspective. China stands ready to work with Costa Rica to deepen cooperation on the Geneva platform, and jointly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, as well as the international order based on international law.
Ambassador Zamora said that Costa Rica attaches great importance to its relations with China, firmly adheres to the One-China policy, and appreciates China’s support for and assistance to Costa Rica`s economic and social development. Costa Rica stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with China on multilateral affairs, jointly uphold multilateralism, and safeguard the authority of the United Nations.
